Trim Video

You rarely need a whole recording. Twenty seconds from a half-hour screen capture where the bug appears, one song from a concert video, or the empty seconds at the start of a phone clip. A trim does this in one step.

The tool has two modes. Fast mode never decodes the picture. The frames are copied straight into the new file. The quality is identical to the source and the work takes seconds. In exchange, the cut can move to the nearest key frame. Key frames are usually two to ten seconds apart, so the clip can start a little before the time you typed.

Precise mode cuts at the exact time. For this, the picture is written again, which means it is re-encoded. The work runs on one core in the browser, so a one-minute 1080p clip can take a few minutes, and the output is MP4. Use this mode when an action or a subtitle starts at that exact moment. For other work, fast mode is enough.

A preview player sits on the page. Move the video to the moment you want and press "Current time". The tool writes the seconds into the box. You can also type the time as 1:05 or as 65.

If the clip is still large, "Compress Video" reduces the size. To get the audio on its own, "MP4 to MP3" opens in one click.
