How it works
- Choose your PDF file or drag it into the drop area.
- Type a page range (1-3, 7, 10-12) or select "every page separately".
- Press Split and download the parts.
Why this tool
- Your file stays on your computer. There is no upload.
- Three methods: page range, every page, equal chunks.
- Separate several ranges with a comma.
- One part downloads as a PDF. Several parts download as a zip.
- Pages are copied, so the quality does not change.
You rarely need a whole PDF. A summary section from a hundred-page report, one page from a stack of scans, the first three pages of an attachment. Split PDF does this in one step. Filewand runs the split in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
There are three methods. Page range takes input like 1-3, 7, 10-12 and makes each group a separate file. Every page separately turns a ten-page file into ten PDFs. Equal chunks lets you set the pages per part, which helps when you cut a 200-page book into 20-page sections.
The split copies pages. It does not redraw them. Text stays selectable, links and form fields stay in place, and each part gets smaller in proportion to its page count. One part downloads as a PDF. Several parts download as a zip.
If one part is still large, the result screen takes you to "Compress PDF". To remove pages or change their order, "Organize PDF" shows page thumbnails.
Frequently asked questions
Does my file go to a server?
No. The split runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer. Open the network tab and check it yourself.
How do I write a page range?
Write it like 1-3, 7, 10-12. A dash gives a range. A comma starts a new part. Spaces do not matter.
Can I save every page as its own file?
Yes. Select "every page separately". A ten-page file gives ten PDFs in one zip.
What is the size limit?
200 MB per file. Pro allows 2 GB. There is no page limit, but a very large file makes the browser slow.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
A file that asks for a password to open must first go through "Unlock PDF".
Does the quality drop in the parts?
No. Pages are copied as they are. Text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed.
