JPG, JPEG

Your files never leave your computer

How it works

  1. Choose your JPG files or drag them into the drop area.
  2. The target format is PNG. There is nothing to set.
  3. Press Convert and download the PNG files.

Why this tool

  • Files stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • PNG is lossless, so later saves lose nothing.
  • Good for upload forms that accept PNG only.
  • Convert up to 50 files in one run.
  • Metadata and location data are removed.

JPG to PNG does not raise the quality. People expect this often, so it needs a clear answer. The detail thrown away by JPG compression is not in the file, and PNG cannot rebuild it. The conversion moves the pixels you have into a lossless container.

The job still has real uses. First, tool limits. Some application systems, design programs and icon builders accept PNG only. Second, an edit chain. If you crop an image, add text and save it again, each JPG save adds a new loss. PNG keeps that chain clean. Third, print workflows. Some templates ask for PNG.

Be ready for the size. A photo as a PNG grows three to ten times. That is the natural result of storing every pixel. It is not an error.

One more point. PNG can hold transparency, but the JPG source has none. The output is solid. To really remove a background you need a different tool.

If the file is for a web page, WebP is a better choice than PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Do my files go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer.

Does the quality go up?

No. Detail lost by JPG compression does not come back. PNG only stops new loss from this point.

Then why convert?

There are three common reasons. Some forms and design tools accept PNG only. If you will edit and save the image many times, you do not want a loss each time. Some print workflows ask for PNG.

Does the file get larger?

Yes, clearly larger. For photos, three to ten times is normal. PNG keeps every pixel, so this is expected.

Do I get transparency?

No. A JPG has no transparent areas, so the PNG is solid too. Removing a background is a separate job.

What are the limits?

200 MB per file and 50 files per run. Pro allows 2 GB per file.
