Your files never leave your computer

How it works

  1. Choose your PNG files or drag them into the drop area.
  2. Set the quality and pick a color for transparent areas.
  3. Press Convert and download the JPG files.

Why this tool

  • Files stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • Photos and screenshots get much smaller.
  • You choose the color for transparent areas.
  • The quality slider balances size against sharpness.
  • Convert up to 50 files in one run.

PNG files take more space than people expect. The reason is simple. PNG is lossless and stores every pixel as it is. Save a photo or a full screen capture as a PNG and 3 to 8 MB is normal. The same picture as a JPG is 200 to 500 KB.

Accept two costs on purpose. The first is transparency. PNG holds transparent areas and JPG does not. That is why the tool asks for a background color, with white as the default. The second is sharp edges. JPG is a lossy format and leaves a soft shadow around letters and thin lines. Keep the quality above 90 and you will not see that shadow.

The rule is short. If the image is a photo, JPG wins. If the image holds text, an interface, a table or a logo, PNG is the better choice. For a mixed screenshot, a quality near 92 is a good middle ground.

If the image is for a web page, there is a third road. WebP keeps transparency and stays as small as a JPG. The "PNG to WebP" page is ready for that.

Frequently asked questions

Do my files go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer.

How much smaller does it get?

For photos and screenshots, 5 to 15 times smaller is normal. A 3 MB screenshot usually drops below 300 KB at quality 85.

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas get the color you pick. White is the default. Keep PNG or pick WebP if you need transparency.

Does text get blurry?

At low quality, yes. JPG leaves a soft shadow around sharp edges. For images with text or tables, keep the quality above 90.

When should the file stay PNG?

Keep PNG for logos, icons, transparent backgrounds, sharp line art and small text you must read. JPG costs you something in all of these.

What are the limits?

200 MB per file and 50 files per run. Pro allows 2 GB per file.
