How it works

  1. Choose your images or drag them into the drop area.
  2. Pick the target format. Set the quality and the background color if you need to.
  3. Press Convert and download the files.

Why this tool

  • Files stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • Output: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and GIF.
  • Input: HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, SVG, GIF and all common image formats.
  • You choose the background color for transparent areas.
  • Convert up to 50 files in one run.

The format question has one answer: where will this file open. JPG has the widest support and gives small photos. It has no transparency. PNG is lossless, keeps transparency and stays clean on sharp lines, but the file is large. WebP sits between the two and opens in every browser since 2020. AVIF is smaller again, but not every browser can write it. BMP has no compression. Use it only when an old program asks for it.

The input side is wide. The tool opens iPhone HEIC files with libheif. If the browser cannot open a TIFF, it falls back to its own decoder. It renders an SVG vector at 1024 pixels wide.

During the work, the image is drawn on a canvas and written again in the format you pick. This has two effects. First, metadata such as EXIF and GPS goes away. Second, a lossy format to a lossy format means a second loss. When you turn a JPG into a WebP, keep the quality above 85.

Common jobs have their own pages: HEIC to JPG, WebP to PNG and PNG to JPG. On those pages the target format is already set.

Frequently asked questions

Do my files go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer. Open the network tab and see for yourself.

Which format do I pick?

For photos, JPG is small and opens everywhere. For transparency and sharp lines, pick PNG. For a web page, WebP gives a smaller file.

Does every browser write AVIF?

No. Chrome and Firefox write AVIF. Safari 17 and later gives partial support. If your browser cannot write it, AVIF is not in the list.

What happens to a transparent PNG as JPG?

JPG has no transparency. The transparent areas get the color you pick. White is the default. Keep PNG or WebP if you need transparency.

Do animated GIF and WebP files keep the motion?

No. The tool keeps only the first frame and shows a warning. To build an animation from photos, use "GIF Maker".

Is the metadata kept?

No. The image is written again, so EXIF, GPS and the color profile go away. That is often good. To do it on purpose, see "Remove EXIF Data".
