JPG to WebP

Drop your JPG photos, set the quality, download them as WebP. The work runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your computer.

JPG, JPEG, PNG

Your files never leave your computer

How it works

  1. Choose your JPG files or drag them into the drop area. PNG files also work.
  2. Set the quality. 85 is a balanced value for photos.
  3. Press Convert and download the WebP files.

Why this tool

  • Your photos stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • Smaller than JPG for the same look.
  • It also accepts PNG input.
  • The quality slider goes from 10 to 100.
  • Convert up to 50 files in one run.

Put twenty photos on a page and the total weight reaches several megabytes. WebP fixes that. It gives the same look with fewer bytes. Photo blogs, product lists and galleries gain the most.

Watch for double encoding. Your JPG is already compressed with loss. Writing a WebP adds a second loss. So keep the quality between 85 and 90. Below that you start to see bands in flat areas such as a sky. If you can reach the raw file or the original, make the WebP from there. One loss beats two.

This page also accepts PNG input. If a folder holds both JPG and PNG files, you can convert them all in one run.

Think about where the file goes. WebP is right for web pages, app interfaces and theme files. For an email attachment, a print job or an application form, send a JPG. There, compatibility matters more than speed.

Frequently asked questions

Do my photos go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your computer.

Does JPG to WebP lower the quality?

It adds a second lossy step. Keep the quality at 85 or more and you will not see it. If you have the raw file, make the WebP from that instead.

How much do I save?

For the same look, WebP is usually smaller than JPG. The gain depends on the photo. Detailed textures save less. Flat areas save more.

Does this help SEO?

Indirectly, yes. The page loads faster and the largest contentful paint drops. Search engines use that as a page experience signal.

What about old browsers?

Safari 14 and later shows WebP. If you must support older ones, serve a JPG fallback with the HTML picture element.

What are the limits?

200 MB per file and 50 files per run. Pro allows 2 GB per file.
