WEBP

Your files never leave your computer

How it works

  1. Choose your WebP files or drag them into the drop area.
  2. Set the quality and pick a color for transparent areas.
  3. Press Convert and download the JPG files.

Why this tool

  • Files stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • A JPG is much smaller than the PNG version.
  • You choose the color for transparent areas.
  • The quality slider goes from 10 to 100.
  • Convert up to 50 files in one run.

WebP to JPG solves a different problem than WebP to PNG. You pick PNG for compatibility, and the file grows. JPG gives you compatibility and a small file at the same time. That is what you want when you attach a photo to an email, upload it to a web form, or open it in an old program.

Transparency is the one thing to watch. A WebP file can hold transparent areas. A JPG cannot. That is why the tool asks for a background color. For a logo, white works in most documents. If the image goes on a dark page, pick a close color so no white frame appears at the edge.

Be realistic about quality. The WebP file is already compressed with loss. Writing a JPG adds a second loss. A quality of 85 to 90 keeps that second step invisible. At 60 and below you start to see bands in flat colors and shadows along sharp edges.

If the image holds text, a table or thin lines, think about PNG instead. The "WebP to PNG" page is ready for that job.

Frequently asked questions

Do my files go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer.

Why JPG and not PNG?

JPG gives a much smaller file for photos. That helps with email, web forms and archives. If you do not need transparency, JPG is the right pick.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG has no transparency. Empty areas get the color you pick. White is the default. Pick a color that matches the page and the image still looks right.

Do I lose quality twice?

Yes. WebP is already lossy, and the JPG adds a second loss. Keep the quality between 85 and 90 and you will not see it.

What happens to an animated WebP?

Only the first frame becomes a JPG. The motion is lost and the tool shows a warning.

What are the limits?

200 MB per file and 50 files per run. Pro allows 2 GB per file.
