Why this tool
- Your photos stay on your computer. There is no upload.
- Removes GPS, device, software, date and copyright fields.
- Lists which fields it found after the run.
- The pixels stay the same. The picture does not change.
- Clean up to 50 photos in one run.
A photo holds more than a picture. At the moment of capture, the phone writes the location, the device model, the software version, the date and the time into the file. This block is called EXIF and you cannot see it. When you post the photo to a forum, a listing site or an email, that data travels with it.
The risk is easy to picture. A photo in a second hand listing can carry the coordinates of your home. A shot in a school yard gives the school location. A photo of a document tells which device took it.
This tool draws the photo on a canvas and writes it again. The new file has no old metadata block. The pixels stay the same, so you see no change in the picture. Before the run it can list which fields it found, so you know what you removed.
Most social networks strip EXIF on upload, but do not rely on that. Chat apps, cloud share links and email attachments often carry the file through untouched.
To make the clean file smaller, go to "Compress Image" from the result screen.
Frequently asked questions
Do my photos go to a server?
No. The work runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your computer. That matters most here, because the data you delete is sensitive.
What exactly is removed?
GPS location, camera make and model, software name, capture date, exposure settings, owner and copyright fields, and the orientation tag. In short, everything except the picture.
Does the picture change?
No. The photo is drawn on a canvas and written again. The pixels stay the same. For JPG output the default quality is 92. You can raise it.
Do social networks not remove it already?
Most platforms strip it on upload, but not all of them and not always. Email attachments, cloud folders, forum uploads and chat apps often pass the file through as it is.
Do I lose the photo date?
The capture date inside the file goes away. The file system date stays. If your archive needs the date, keep the original in a separate folder.
Will the photo lie sideways without the orientation tag?
No. The tool applies the direction from the tag during the run and saves the photo the right way up.
