How it works

  1. Choose at least two photos or drag them into the drop area.
  2. Drag the list into order. Set the frame time and the width.
  3. Press Make GIF and download the file.

Why this tool

  • Your photos stay on your computer. There is no upload.
  • The frame order is the file list order. Drag to change it.
  • Frame time from 20 to 5000 milliseconds.
  • Color count of 256, 128 or 64. A lower count gives a smaller file.
  • Frames of a different size are filled or fitted to match.

People build a GIF from photos for a few common reasons. To show one product from several angles in one file. To play the steps of a drawing in order. To turn interface screenshots into a short demo. Or to run old photos as a small animation.

The order comes from the file list. Drag the list to arrange it. "Reverse the order" flips the whole run at once, which helps with a countdown or an open and close effect. The frame time is in milliseconds. 400 milliseconds means two and a half frames per second. For a smooth feel, try 100 to 150. For slide style steps, use 800 or more.

Size control matters with GIF, because the format stores each frame on its own and skips modern video compression. Three settings drive the size: width, frame count and color count. A width of 480 pixels is enough for most sharing. Dropping the color count to 128 adds light bands to photos but cuts the file clearly. On drawings you will not see it.

When the frames differ in size, the first frame sets the ratio. Fill and crop cuts the edges. Fit and pad frames the photo with the color you pick.

Frequently asked questions

Do my photos go to a server?

No. The work runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your computer.

How do I change the frame order?

The order in the file list is the order in the GIF. Change it by dragging or with the arrow buttons. "Reverse the order" flips all of them at once.

Why is the GIF file so large?

GIF stores every frame on its own and does not use modern video compression. Lower the width, use fewer frames, and set the color count to 128 or 64.

What does the color count do?

A GIF holds 256 colors at most. 128 and 64 make the file smaller but add bands to photos. For drawings and flat colors, a low count is fine.

What if the frames have different sizes?

The first frame sets the target ratio. The others are filled and cropped, or fitted and framed with the color you pick.

Can I make a GIF from a video?

This tool works with photos. For a video, use the "Video to GIF" tool.
