QR Code Generator
Make a QR code for a URL, text, Wi-Fi details or a contact card. Download it as PNG or SVG. The code is drawn in your browser.
How it works
- Pick a type: URL/Text, Wi-Fi, Contact card, Email, Phone or SMS.
- Fill the fields and watch the preview appear.
- Set the color, size and error correction, then download PNG or SVG.
Why this tool
- Six types: URL/text, Wi-Fi, contact card, email, phone and SMS.
- Four error correction levels: L, M, Q and H.
- Foreground and background color, quiet zone, 128 to 1024 pixels.
- PNG and SVG download. SVG stays sharp in print.
- The code is computed in your browser. The content is not uploaded.
Most QR sites ask for an account and sell the code as "dynamic". It helps to know the difference.
In a static code the target is written into the pattern itself. The address is the code. Nobody can switch it off, nobody tracks the scans and it never expires. You also cannot change it: if the address changes, you must make a new code.
A dynamic code holds a short redirect address. The reader first goes to the service server and then jumps to the target. The benefit is that you can change the target later. The cost has three parts: if the service closes, every printed code dies; every scan is logged by a third party; and it usually needs a paid plan.
This tool makes static codes. That is the right choice for a menu, a poster, a business card, packaging and labels. If the address may change, use your own short link: point the code at your own domain and change the target on your side. Then you keep control and the code stays alive.
The error correction level sets how much damage the code survives. Level M still reads with about 15 percent of the data damaged. Level H reaches about 30 percent, but the pattern gets denser and needs a larger print. Pick Q or H for packaging and outdoor use.
The code is computed and drawn in your browser. A Wi-Fi password or a phone number never goes to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Does the code expire?
No. This tool makes static codes. The content sits in the pattern itself. There is no account and no plan, so the code always works.
What is the difference between static and dynamic?
A static code holds the target in the pattern. You cannot change it, but nobody can switch it off. A dynamic code holds a redirect link. You can change the target, but the code dies if the service closes and every scan is tracked.
Which error correction level should I use?
Level M is enough for a screen and for clean print. Pick Q or H for labels, packaging and outdoor use. A high level makes the pattern denser but survives damage.
My code does not scan. What should I do?
Keep a quiet zone of 4 modules, keep the foreground clearly darker than the background and do not invert the colors. In print, use at least 2 centimetres per side.
How does a Wi-Fi code work?
The network name, the password and the security type go into the code. A phone reads it and offers to join. The password is plain text inside the code, so do not post the code in public.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for screens and social media. Use SVG for print, signs and large sizes, because a vector stays sharp at any scale.
