Placeholder text is an old design tool. Printers have used meaningless Latin in type samples since the 1500s. Today's lorem ipsum is a damaged piece of Cicero's "De Finibus". The words look familiar but say nothing.
The goal is to move attention away from content. If you paste a real paragraph, the reviewer reads it and starts to discuss the sentences. With meaningless text you look at line length, line spacing, type size and the grey tone of the block.
There are three units. Paragraphs suit block layout tests. Sentences suit cards and summary fields. Words suit fields with a character limit. Set the unit to Words and type 60 and you get about the length of a product description.
The HTML box wraps each paragraph in a p tag, which is quick to paste into a template. The "Start with Lorem ipsum" box fixes the classic first sentence. Your team knows that sentence, so they see at once that the text is a placeholder.
One rule: never leave placeholder text in a published page. A search engine reads it as thin content. Add a search for "lorem" to your release checklist. Forgotten pieces in templates show up that way.

Can I leave it in a published page?
Do not. A search engine reads placeholder text as content and the page looks thin. Replace all of it with real text before you publish.
